Lighting in your home is a crucial part of your home’s interior, the lighting affects the ambience and mood of your home. So, what type of lighting should you be using to achieve your desired affect?

The first thing you will need to consider when choosing your fixtures is the height of your ceilings, you don’t want lighting fixtures to hang too low and become a nuisance.

Secondly don’t limit lighting to downlights. You could consider wall sconces or up lighting to create a softer ambiance and avoid harsh downlighting that can cast shadows.

Modern pendants – if you are opting for low hanging modern pendants then you need to consider space, usually these can be seen hanging over tables or kitchen islands.

As well as the fixture type and location, you will need to consider which bulb type you need to create your desired effect. If your walls are decorated in cool tones, you might want to warm them up with a bulb that casts a warm glow. For darker spaces you may want a cooler glow to open and brighten up space.
